Previewing The Game 1 Opponent - Utah State Aggies: A Look Back At The Last Meeting With The Sooners

We're finally at game week! Our plan this week is to roll out the defensive preview of the Sooners as well as taking a shot at previewing Saturday's opponent, the Utah State Aggies. Let's begin by taking a look back at September 15th, 2007.

Sam Bradford completed 19 of 26 (73.1%) passes that night for 255 yards, 3 touchdowns and 1 interception while in route to a 54-3 blowout win. However, it was Oklahoma's ground game that put up the big numbers. Tailback Allen Patrick racked up 113 yards and a touchdown on just 8 carries. If you're trying to figure out the averages there, we're talking 14.1 yards per carry. Another guy who carried the ball for the Sooners that night was redshirt freshman DeMarco Murray. He got 4 touches and produced 100 rushing yards and a score.

Defensively the big man on campus was linebacker Curtis Lofton who intercepted Aggie quarterback Leon Jackson in the third quarter and returned it 45 yards for a score.

Something else of note is that Sooner kicker Garrett Heartley missed an extra point attempt and was 6-7 on the night. He also kicked a 53-yard field goal.
