Five Run First Sends OU To 14-0 Win Over Dallas Baptist

Oklahoma only got two hits in the first inning but they were huge. OU's first two batters reached base after being hit by a pitch then DBU hurler Aaron Gilbreath retired the next two Sooner sluggers before walking Caleb Bushyhead to load the bases. Freshman Drew Harrison then promptly emptied those bases with a triple to give the Sooners a 3-0 lead. Danny Black came up next to give OU their second hit of the evening and push the lead to 5-0 with a two run shot to right field. If you're trying to keep track, that's five runs on two hits with two outs.

The Sooners exploded for six more runs in the bottom of the fifth to go up 11-0 and then three more in the sixth to get to the final score of 14-0. This was one of those scrimmage type games that's designed to be a confidence booster before going into a tough series. That's what it was and with Kansas State coming in over the weekend the Sooners have opportunity to make up ground in the conference standings.

Ryan Gibson picked up the win after facing 29 batters over 5.2 innings. He struck out six and allowed no runs.
