Things were looking bleak for Oklahoma's baseball team early on in their contest against 11th ranked TCU. The Frogs took a 1-0 lead in the first and would expand it to 2-0 in the top of the 3rd with a single shot home run to center field. Meanwhile, Oklahoma struggled to find offense in the first two quarters but got on the board in the bottom of the third, thanks to Chris Ellison. Ellison reached base on a two out single and then was moved to third by Caleb Bushyhead. A throwing error by the TCU catcher allowed Ellison to score and the Sooners were on the way to finding their offense again.
After surviving a TCU scare in the top of the fourth, Oklahoma exploded in the bottom half of the inning. With one out, Max White tripled to center field and then Cameron Seitzer put the Sooners on top for good at 3-2 with a shot over the right field wall. The Sooners would then place runners on first and second for Caleb Bushyhead to hit a two-out single to score Ricky Eisenberg. Then Danny Black doubled to knock in Bryan Groth and Bushyhead. OU put up a five spot in the inning off five hits (they only had two through the first three innings) and essentially put the game away.
TCU would plate one run in the 5th and OU piled on two more in the 6th off a Danny Black home run to get us to the 8-3 final. Hopefully we'll be able to look back at this game, the fourth inning in particular, and find a turning point in this season. Before this game OU had lost three of the last four and couldn't seem to find clutch hitting when it was needed. Now that they've found it, let's hope the hang on to it this time.
The Sooners travel to College Station this weekend to take on the Aggies.
