Oklahoma Spring Football Game Stats/Scoring Summary

New, 6 comments

Travis Lewis said beforehand that all his white team needed was 7 points to win because the red team wouldn't be able to score against his defense. Turns out he was right! Lewis tallied a total of 4 tackles and 2 sacks and the white defense intercepted Drew Allen twice in route to a shutout. Meanwhile, Landry Jones tossed 2 touchdown passes and threw for 211 yards in the 23-0 win for the white.

With DeMarco Murray and Jermie Calhoun on the sidelines it was a game that we can glean almost nothing from except for the small amount of entertainment value that was there. Neither back played for risk of injury and while the drafting of players added a bit of intrigue to the scrimmage it essentially divided the first team offense and defense, leaving many fans with a feeling of incompleteness. This was just a game for fun for the players and any fan that showed up expecting to see serious football or a real glimpse of the 2010 Sooners went away disappointed. Personally, I had no problem with it but would have liked to have seen Murray and Calhoun, or at least one of them.
