Tuesday night Oklahoma got off to a slow start against Arkansas and trailed 2-0 going into the bottom of the second inning before waking the bats up. Wednesday night it was all Oklahoma from start to finish. Barry McDonley hit a single shot home run in the top of the 9th to finally get the Lions on the board but it was way too little way too late for APB as the Sooners rolled to a 16-1 victory.
The Sooners jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first and set the tone for the evening. The third inning was the only inning in which they didn't plate a run. The Sooners hit three home runs off APB pitchers. Max White went yard in the first, then Cameron Seitzer hit a three run shot in the fourth, and Cody Reine hit a three run blast in the 7th.
Ryan Gibson picked up the win after facing just 8 batters in two innings of work. He allowed just one hit while striking out two batters.
This series was everything we thought it would be. It was an opportunity for the Sooners to build confidence behind their bats and secure a couple of easy wins. Now Oklahoma needs to retain that confidence and keep the bats swinging when the Texas Longhorns come calling Thursday.
