I sat a few rows behind Eddie and Sean Sutton Tuesday night at the OU/Texas Tech basketball game and actually made the comment to my wife that both looked healthy and happy. That's why I was even more surprised to hear that Sean had been arrested today on drug complaints. His subsequent admission to being addicted to narcotics just drags up all the memories of his father's untimely departure from coaching as a result of alcohol abuse.
Hopefully Sean Sutton is able to use this as a wake up call and a learning experience. His father was able to overcome years of addiction and with the right support Sean can do the same. This is another one of those issues that's bigger than a rivalry and coaches we don't care for. Anytime families and lives are at stake those things should be put aside.
