The best news for Oklahoma today is that Texas A&M only moved up one spot, from 19 to 18, after knocking of Nebraska Saturday night. The reason that's good news is because under the new tie breaker rule of the Big 12 Oklahoma could actually miss the Big 12 championship game in favor of A&M, if the beat the Cowboys. Here's how.
Let's make the assumption that OU beats Oklahoma State this coming weekend in Stillwater and A&M wins in Austin. Under the new tiebreaker rules it would come down to the highest ranked BCS team unless they are within one spot of each other in which the head-to-head would come into play. What that means is that we don't want A&M anywhere near Oklahoma in the BCS rankings when they are released this evening because when next week's final BCS rankings come out and it shows Oklahoma at #11 and the Aggies at #12 then it will be A&M heading to Arlington and not the Sooners. For now, we can rest assured that OU has a six spot cushion.
