Thursday Night Open Thread: Nebraska at Kansas State

New, 38 comments

Are you ready for some (Big 12) football?

Starts at: 6:30 PM CT
Played at:  Bill Snyder Stadium, Manhattan, Kansas
Coverage:  ESPN
Line:  Nebraska  (-11.5) is favored

History certainly favors the Huskers in this one. Since 1975, they have won 33 of 35 of their conference openers. They've won five in a row in this series, and the last four by at least 14 points. I still think that Kansas State has a good chance to cover the spread, as they are undefeated, seem to be a scrappy team, and are playing at home.

Both of these teams will not be OU opponents this year, so it will not be a "scoutable game" like last week's Thursday Night game. However, this should set up the race in the Big 12 North by giving one team a major leg up. Remember, whoever wins will own the first tiebreaker, so it will be like being two games up.

Big. Game.
