OU jacked up 34 three-pointers Monday night and only made 11 of them but it was more than enough to handle Maryland-Eastern Shore. At one point the Sooners had a 39 point lead and they never trailed after starting the game off with a 7-0 run.

Oklahoma forced 18 turnovers in what has possibly their best defensive effort of the year but you'll have to pardon our lack of excitement as we realize who the competition was. Let's see the Sooners do it against someone who doesn't have a 3-10 record and let's see them play defense consistently. This weekend at Waco would be a good opportunity to see OU hold an opponent to 30% from the floor.
Cade Davis led all scorers with 19 points and got the Sooners off to a quick start but again consistency has been an issue with him. Davis went off against Northern Colorado but then disappeared for the UTEP and Gonzaga games before showing back up Monday night.
OU shot 9-16 (56%) from the free-throw line and 43% from the floor which further advance the point that this rout was based on Oklahoma's defensive performance. They outscored Maryland-Eastern Shore 22-3 off turnovers. When the Sooners were able to set and run an offense it was fun to watch. The Sooners tied a season low for turnovers with just 7 and as a team they dished out 20 assists. They out rebounded the Hawks by 10 and recorded 9 steals.
"He plays hard and he does things the right way. Usually when you do that, good stuff happens for you. He works at it and I think he has developed a little bit of an identity. Just try to go get the ball. He has been a little bit relentless going to get them. He'll chase down long ones. We grade block outs and he does a very good job with block outs. He does a very good job even when he's blocking out against bigger guys." - Jeff Capel on Tony Crocker
Two Sooners had double-doubles on the night. Tony Crocker scored14 points and grabbed 12 boards while Tiny Gallon had 13 points and 12 boards. A question though, is Tony Crocker the guy that's supposed to be leading this team? He is a senior and to this point of the season has been Oklahoma's most consistent player but Oklahoma is taking a role player and trying to make him a star while the stars are trying to figure out what's going on. Crocker is Scottie Pippen without Jordan (Did I just date myself). He'll put in a few good nights but really works best with someone else taking the lead. OU just needs to find that someone.
