Sooners Bounce Back Against Shockers

After taking it on the chin last week in Austin, Oklahoma’s baseball team took the field again Wednesday night against the Wichita State Shockers hoping to work out a little aggression. It appears to have worked and the Sooner bats are back on track.

After a scoreless first inning Tyler Ogle knocked in a run with a double and then Casey Johnson blasted a three-run homerun giving the Sooners a 4-0 lead. The Shockers added a run of their own in the top of the 5th inning before J.T. Wise knocked in another run for Oklahoma in the bottom of the inning. Garrett Buechele and Bryant Hernandez each knocked in runs in the 6th extending the lead to 7-1 before Matt Harughty drove in Chris Ellison for the game’s final score and giving OU an 8-1.

Last weekend the Sooners were swept for the first time all season and hadn’t dropped more than two games in a row before the series against Texas. They’ll be south of the Oklahoma border once again this weekend for a three game set with the Baylor Bears. At 10-7 in conference play the Bears are two games ahead of Oklahoma in the conference standings with first place only being three games out. There is much to play for this weekend!
