Sooners Crush Nicholls State Without Willie Warren

Tiny Gallon produced another double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds and Cade Davis scored a team high 18 points to lead the Sooners past winless Nicholls State 81-60. All five of Oklahoma's starters scored in double figures and Andrew Fitzgerald came off the bench to add another 10 points giving OU a total of six players in double figures.

OU actually trailed by two (39-37) at the half but after Nicholls State took a 48-41 lead with 17 minutes left in the game OU closed with a 40-12 run the rest of the way. The Sooners were finally able to put some defensive pressure on an opponent's shooters by limiting Nicholls State to just 34.4% from three point range and 39% from the floor for the game.

On the other end of the court the Sooners shot 56.5% from three-point range and 60.4% from the floor. OU hit a season high 13 three-point shots and despite early frustrations were able to actually run an offense. As a team the Sooners had 18 total assists led by Tommy Mason-Griffin's 6.

The story that overshadows Oklahoma's first win in four games is the fact that Willie Warren didn't play and didn't suit up. Jeff Capel called it a, "coach's decision" in his post game interview leaving just about everything open for speculation. SoonerSports.com is reporting that Warren is sick which should dispel rumors that he's in Jeff Capel's doghouse.
