Idiot Of The Summer: James W. Conradt

Donkey_20mirroe_medium

This is a new feature that I will break out from time to time when someone deserves the label of Idiot. Well Sooner Nation, James W. Conradt is going to be Idiot for quite sometime.

Mr. Idiot is a 36 year old Nebraska fan who lives in Austin, TX, but that isn't what makes him the idiot. No my friends, Mr. Idiot is now Mr. Idiot because after some Sooner fans were talking some smack on a Nebraska message board, Mr. Idiot decided to take drastic measures to show those Sooner fans what's up.

Mr. Idiot used his tech savyness to lift a template of NewsOK.com, then he wrote and posted a bogus story about how Sam Bradford & Landry Jones were arrested on cocaine distribution charges, then went back and posted the story on the message board.

Mr. Idiot explains why he would create such an elaborate hoax:

“I just wanted to get ‘em all riled up, I guess.”

Mr. Idiot did apologize for what happened:

“I want to express my deepest apologies to the families,” Conradt said Wednesday night, after his story was reported as fact by at least two Texas radio stations. “That’s the thing I’m regretful about. I didn’t want to hurt anyone.”

There was at least one person who didn't accept the apology, Kevin Jones, Landry Jones' father:

“I’m going to prosecute him to the fullest extent of the law,” said Kevin Jones. “I’ve got deep enough pockets to do it.”

I hope that Mr. Idiot has a good lawyer.

What I don't understand is why Mr. Idiot thought that making a fake NewOK.com page with a story about Bradford & Jones would be an appropriate comeback to some smack talk on a message board. I am sure Mr. Idiot thought that this would come off as a joke and it would all blow over.

I really just don't know what to say about all of this.
