Auston English Out Indefinitely

Oklahoma defensive end Auston English is out indefinitely after undergoing an emergency appendectomy over the weekend. English led the conference in sacks last season and was named the Big 12’s preseason defensive player of the year for the 2008 season.

While there is no timetable for Auston’s return Associate Athletic Director Kenny Mossman said that he expects English to play in the season opener on August 30. Obviously if English is able to come back 100% by the opener then this is a non-story other than the fact that he underwent a major ordeal over the weekend.

However, if for some reason he is slow to recover there really won’t be any point is pushing him to come back for Chattanooga. He’ll be needed more the following week for Cincinnati. The most important thing is not when he covers but that he recovers. Get well soon, Auston!
