Scouting The Rice Owls

Oklahoma plays their first road game tonight when they travel to Houston to take on the Rice Owls in the Tudor Fieldhouse. Rice has a 4-6 record and has already has three home losses to Portland State, Lamar and UTSA. For the season they are getting outscored by almost 5 points per game and are just losing the battle of the boards by 1 rebound per game on average.

Points P/G Rebounds P/G FG% 3 PT% FT%
69 33.3 50% 36% 76.3%

Their starting lineup is young featuring a freshman, two sophomores, a junior and a senior. Like VCU on Saturday night, Rice runs a three guard offense. Corey Pflieger leads the team in scoring with his 12.5 points per game, and also pulls down 5.2 rebounds while dishing out 2.7 assists. Rodney Foster is averaging 10.8 points and 3 rebounds per game. He also leads the team in assists with 3.9 per game. The final guard of the group is freshman Connor Frizzelle. By only scoring 8 points per game and shooting 30% from the floor he’s not the scoring threat that Pflieger and Foster are. However, if you put him on the free throw line he’ll make you pay 9 out of 10 times.

Opponents are scoring an average of 74 points per game on Rice while shooting almost 46% from the floor and 44% from beyond the three-point line.

Tip off is at 7:00 PM and the game thread will be up starting at 6:00 PM.
