Blake Griffin was a perfect 10-for-10 from the floor to finish the game with 22 points, 11 rebounds and 3 blocks in just 28 minutes as the Sooners cruised to a 90-43 over Oklahoma Panhandle State. The Sooners led 48-19 at the half sparked by solid performances by both Blake Griffin and freshman Willie Warren.
Warren finished the game with 15 points on 4-of-8 shooting and 6-for-6 from the free throw line. Other players of note were sophomore Cade Davis who made four three point shots in the first half and senior Austin Johnson who had 7 assists with no turnovers. However, it was Blake Griffin that impressed the most. So much so that afterwards Jeff Capel called him the best player in the country.
“I think he’s the best player in the country,” Capel said. “But I still see room for improvement, which is very encouraging. I saw some ‘wow’ moments out there tonight and I’m glad he’s on our side.”
For the game Oklahoma shot 50% and won the battle of the boards 45-27. Alarming though were OU’s 16 turnovers. I realize that this is only their first exhibition game and a lot of people played so hopefully we’ll see that number come down.
