Top 10 OU Football Moments #2 1986 Orange Bowl

Following a 10-1 regular season the 3rd ranked Oklahoma Sooners would need a win with a Miami loss or a bow-out win over #1 Penn State to secure their 6th national championship. The Sooners got both! Tennessee knocked off the Hurricanes in the Sugar Bowl and the Sooners ran away from Penn State 25-10. Led by Butkus Award winner Brian Bosworth, who had 13 solo tackles, and a Oklahoma secondary that picked off four Penn State passes the Sooner defense held Penn State at bay. On offense Tim Lashar kicked an Orange Bowl record four field goals to give the Sooners an early lead. Then Lydell Carr and Keith Jackson put the game away with a 61-yard jaunt by Carr and a 71-yard pass play from Jamelle Holieway to Jackson.
