Another Reason to Look Forward to Labor Day Weekend

Suddenly Labor Day weekend not only concludes the countdown to kick-off but also the countdoen to tip-off.

The university announced Tuesday that the men's basketball team will play four exhibition games against Canadian schools over the Labor Day weekend.

On September 1st OU will play the University of British Columbia on September first and then a double-header against Simon Fraser and Trinity Western on the second. The Sooner stampede to Vancouver will conclude on the third with Oklahoma playing Douglass College on September third.

Obviously the practice is needed under second year coach Jeff Capel and this opportunity give the basketball team the opportunity to get in an entire weekend together in September on the floor with coaches coaching and everything an entire month early.

With the new arrivals to Oklahoma playing key roles on the 07-08 squad Labor Day weekend will be like a shorter version of what the football team gets for bowl preparation.
