To this point of spring football Sam Bradford seems to have developed a slight lead in the quarterback race, although Keith Nichol is being brought along slowly, DeMarco Murray has proven to be worth his weight in gold and Gerald McCoy could be the second coming of Tommie Harris.
While I'm not ready to anoint Bradford as the starter for the North Texas game on September 1, I am ready to say that it will be a two person race this summer between Bradford and Nichol this summer.
Murray has by far been the most impressive player on the field this spring and will no doubt provide a fair share of highlights this coming season. How impressive has he been? Impressive enough to get the coaches thinking of all the different ways to get the ball in his hand, he leads the team in rushing yards after the first two scrimmages. He is also lining up at the slot receiver position to get the ball through the air but when he's averaging 8.9 yards per carry against a defense like Oklahoma's anything he adds to the passing attack is gravy.
While the offense seems to be running a lot smoother than it was last spring defensive tackle Gerald McCoy has been in the backfield almost more than the OU running backs. He'll be fighting off double teams every weekend this fall.
