It's been a while since the Sooners made their run of three consecutive Big 12 Tournament titles (2001 - 2003) and it may be a while before we see something like that again with OU basketball. What we need to see from the Sooners today are signs of life. In essence we are looking for evidence that the Sooners haven't given up on the season. The NIT will be looking for two things from the teams on their invitation. 1) Name recognition which OU definitely carries. 2) A team that still has something to play for. There is where the question mark lies. In OU's finale against Kansas State they seemed to lack emotion and intensity. Both of those will be needed to not get bounced in the first round by the Cyclones.

Sooner Scoop
The Sooners are currently riding a six game losing streak nut the good news is that Nate Carter seems to be getting his game back. His 14 points and 7 rebounds led OU on Saturday against Kansas State. With the Big 12 Tournament being in Oklahoma City it essentially gives Carter a redo on his senior day.

The bad news for the Sooners is that Longar Longar has virtually disappeared. He has been limited to single digit scoring in the last five games. Despite the increased productivity of David Godbold and Michael Neal the absence of Longar as a scoring threat has been to much to overcome.

Scouting the Cyclones
Mike Taylor averages team highs in points (15.9) and assists (4.5). Wesley Johnson averages 12.3 points and ranks fourth in the Big 12 with his 8.0 rebounds per game.  Jiri Hubalek scored 11.3 points and grabs 6.9 rebounds a game. Rahshon Clark averages 6.4 points and 6.0 rebounds a game.

In The First Meeting This Season
Longar Longar posted a double-double with 20 points (all in the second half) and 12 rebounds while Bobby Maze scored 10 points off the bench.  Nate Carter was held to no field goals and two points.  Iowa State's Jiri Hubalek was 11-for-16 from the field and finished with a career-high 26 points and nine rebounds while Mike Taylor and Rahshon Clark contributed 12 and 10 points.
