Hola from Panama! I found another hot spot down here in Panama so I'll post a few quick thoughts about the Sooner Nation but first some good news/bad news. The good news is that I get to come home Thursday. The bad news is that I will miss yet another entire day of the NCAA basketball tournament while traveling.
Baseball Continues to Roll
The Sooners have moved up to number 20 in the nation and host Texas A&M this weekend to begin Big 12 play. OU hasn't lost two out of three games since the Hughes Brothers Challenge, Feb. 9-11. After taking two of three from Michigan State over the weekend OU knocked off Dallas Baptist Tuesday night to win their 16th game out of the last eighteen.
Junior Joe Dunigan and senior Joseph Hughes were named to the "National Honor Roll" on Tuesday by the College Baseball Foundation for last week's performances. The duo played a significant role in leading OU to a 4-1 record last week and helping improve the club's top 25 ranking to No. 20 this week.
Oh, and speaking of Texas A&M. Check out SBN's newest site, The 12th Manchild
Ladies In the Sweet 16
After pasting Marquette 78-47 Monday night the Lady Sooners are heading back to the Sweet 16. Up first for the Sooners is Ole Miss who knocked off the defending national champs, Maryland, by forcing 29 turnovers. Guard play will be the key on Saturday as the Rebels will use pressure defense to try to force Oklahoma turnovers as well.
DeMarco Murray is a Freak
Forget the common saying that this kid is a poor man's Reggie Bush. That's comparing apples to oranges in my book because Murray is who he is, a guy who can kill you out of the backfield and also has the versatility to line up at the slot position.
Not much else coming from spring practice because sessions have been closed but the next scrimmage will definitely give us some things to look for.
