The 21st ranked Oklahoma baseball team played their first game last night as a nationally ranked team and avenged an early season loss for the second time.
To show just how far this team has come in a short time let's travel back to early last month when OU opened the season at the UTPA Classic. After the Sooners dropped their first game of the Classic, 8-3 to Texas State, UTPA shutout OU 2-0 in the second game leaving Oklahoma with an 0-2 start.
Fast forward to last night's 4-1 win over UTPA and the Sooners are now 14-5 with five wins over nationally ranked teams. With both hitting and pitching finally coming together the Sonners reeled off an 11 game winning streak that finally ended Sunday in Sad Diego.
Last night's game was a not only a good rebound game for the Sooners but it also could be the beginning of yet another streak. Counting last night OU will play 8 of their next 9 games at home. Included in that is the opening weekend for Big 12 play when the Sooners host Texas A&M, March 23-25.
Its not to far of a reach to think that the Sooners could travel to Austin on March 30 winning 20 of their last 21.
Corn Nation has a complete wrap of Big 12 action from last week as well as an interesting review on the book I remember Bud Wilkinson
