TRAP ALERT, TRAP ALERT, TRAP ALERT!!! OU is coming off two huge wins over Texas Tech and Oklahoma State that featured their first win of the season over a ranked team. Combine that with the 40 point thrashing of Baylor in Norman on January 20th and the Sooners could be walking into an ambush in Waco.
Despite playing their best ball of the season it's almost impossible to convince a group of young men not to overlook another group of young men that they ran out of the gym just a few weeks ago. Jeff Capel will have his work cut out for him to keep his team focused.
The team is still riding on the back of Nate Carter and that seems to be going just fine. Carter tallied 18 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals Wednesday night against OSU. There is no denying the fact that he is the heart and soul of this team and containing him will be on Baylor's priority list.
Longar Longar apparently has been reborn as well. He's posted 32 points, 21 rebounds and 5 blocked shots in the last two games.
Scouting the Bears
Curtis Jerrells scores 12.7 points a game and also averages 4.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists. Kevin Rogers averages 12.4 points and a team-high 7.6 boards while ranking fifth in the Big 12 with his .553 field goal percentage. Henry Dugat contributes 10.7 points and 4.3 rebounds a game. Guard Tweety Carter averages 9.0 points and 2.6 assists a game. Aaron Bruce averages 11.7 points and leads the team in assists per game with 3.8. The Aussie has also connected on a team high 48 treys.
Outlook and Prediction
Baylor appears to be a team on the verge of throwing in the towel. OU doesn't have to do anything spectacular to win in Waco they just have to do the basics and do them well. In fact, chances are that if the Sooners have to rely on a spectacular performance to pull off a victory then they fell into the trap. Dominating the boards, creating space for open shots and typical Sooner defense should be enough to seal a double digit victory. Sooners win it, 74 - 57. BOOMER SOONER!!!
