How Long Can Tony Crocker Carry the Sooners?

Oklahoma's men's basketball team has plenty of talent but leadership is what this team had been looking for is leadership and they may have found it in sophomore guard Tony Crocker. In Oklahoma's last two games Crocker has scored 46 points and shot 9-11 from three-point range.

All the hype around this team has been directed at freshman Blake Griffin but Crocker is clearly the man on fire right now. The question is, how long can he keep his hot streak going? The more Crocker scores the more opposing teams will be forced to bring their defense out to the perimeter creating more opportunities for the Griffin brothers inside.

After Oklahoma routed Tulsa 81-55 Wednesday night behind Crocker's 22 points and 5 assists fellow guard Austin Johnson talked about the difference #5's hot hand has made.

"With Tony (Crocker) shooting the way he is right now it is a big help for us.  Coach always talks about how he wants to play inside-out so I am just going to go by what coach says.  He thinks that if we get it down to Blake (Griffin), Longar (Longar), Keith (Clark) or Taylor (Griffin) that the opponent will double down or it will get us open a lot on the perimeter.  We're still going to play the way we're playing but if we can get Tony an open shot then we're going to get it for him so he can take it."

After shooting 70% from the floor Wednesday, including 3-4 from beyond the arch, night Tony Crocker's 3-point shooting average is up to 57% on the season.

Gray Uniforms?

The Sooners also came out wearing gray uniforms for the first time in school history Wednesday night which is at least going to get people talking about the basketball team. Sound off and tell us how you feel about them in the poll on the right sidebar.
