It's Official: Lendy Holmes Won't Play in the Fiesta Bowl

New, 3 comments

When the OU football team left for Arizona Wednesday free safety Lendy Holmes didn't travel with them. Later that night Bob Stoops confirmed that Holmes was academically ineligible to play in the Fiesta Bowl.

At least we can't say that we didn't see this coming! Holmes father told the Dallas Morning News over the weekend that Lendy most likely wouldn't play because of academic issues.

Lendy Holmes ranked fourth on the team in tackles and will most likely be replaced by freshman Dominique Franks who has only three for the entire season. The other option is sophomore Brian Jackson who has played mostly special teams this season but did snag an interception against Utah State.

"We'll see how those guys work through the week," Bob Stoops said. "Brian Jackson has really done well for us. We have a lot of confidence in both of them. Not anything we do is going to change. We're going to play like we always do."

What do you think Sooner fans? Is it time to worry with both Reggie Smith and Lendy Holmes missing for Oklahoma's secondary?
