I don't know about you but I feel like I just got kicked in the gut and had my lunch money taken. It was all right there on a platter for the Sooners to take - the Big 12 South Division title, #3 BCS ranking with potential of moving up and going to the national championship game. It was all there and the Sooners pushed away from the table refusing to partake in it.
The game couldn't have started any better for OU. On the 5th play of the game Lendy Holmes intercepted Graham Herrell and took it to the house for a quick 7-0 lead and the Sooners were off to the races. So we thought.
On the 10th play from scrimmage Allen Patrick fumbled was Sam Bradford was injured making a tackle on Marlon Williams who had recovered the fumble. It was all over from there because without Bradford under center Oklahoma's offense would sputter and their defense demoralized by Graham Harrell's 420 passing yards leading to a Tech to a 34-27 upset. Mix in injuries to defensive end Alan Davis and running back DeMarco Murray and you have the perfect ingredients to the worst night of the season for OU fans.
I could try to put on a positive spin and say that OU is still in control of its own destiny as far as the Big 12 championship goes, and I would be right, but I just don't feel like it right now. Mostly because of the rash of injuries tonight I'm not sure who is going to be able to play against Oklahoma State next week.
I've also had visions of the 2006 Texas Longhorns dancing inside my head. Colt McCoy get's injured in a road game at Kansas State on their next to the last game of the season and then they go on and lose the following week at home to their in-state rival. Frankly, I'm scared to death of the irony. That's how I feel. How about you?
