This is Why We Should Cheer for OU's Opponents

New, 2 comments

I have to admit that it was extremely difficult to cheer for Jamaal Charles as he shredded Nebraska's defense but I kept telling myself that it was good for OU to see him do that. It was also good to see Colorado beat Texas Tech, Missouri beat Iowa State and Tulsa beat SMU.

Here's why. Those teams are all behind us and each time they win it helps the Sooners. Despite not playing this weekend OU still bumped up from 14 to 9 in the computers which boosted their BCS ranking from .7551 to .7920. The reason why is because Oklahoma's strength of schedule was boosted by wins from previous opponents. While the BCS formula at large doesn't factor in strength of schedule the computers do making guys like Jamaal Charles assets for Oklahoma.
