Heads are starting to roll in Lincoln over what is turning out to be one of the worst Nebraska football seasons in a long, long time. Not even a full season after winning the Big 12 north division title and playing for the conference championship the Nebraska Corn Huskers have lost the ability to field a competitive team. Now people are paying the price.
A press conference has been scheduled for 4:00pm this afternoon and sources say that athletic director Steve Pederson has been fired by the university. Pederson is the man who hired current football coach Bill Callahan and then gave him a contract extension earlier this season. The writing on the wall couldn't be clearer at this moment that the extension will be bought out and Callahan most likely will be a lame duck head coach for the remainder of this season if he survives today.
You'll definitely want to follow this story over at Corn Nation as more develops.
Update: Pederson has been fired as the source said. Corn Nation has yet to update on the situation but I would strongly suggest that you keep checking. Until then, here's what ESPN had to say about the matter.
