Sooner Centers Earn Big 12 P.O.T.W. Honors

Longar Longar and Courtney Paris were both named Big 12 Conference players of the week today.

Longar earned the honor for the week of December 25-31 after recording his third double-double of the season with 20 points and a career-high 15 rebounds as the Sooners posted a 69-42 win over SMU on Dec. 28.  The Mustangs entered the game with a 9-1 record.

Paris won her second weekly honor of the season after she set the Oklahoma single game scoring record while posting an NCAA season high 43 points in the Sooners' 80-58 win over No. 22 New Mexico. Paris also grabbed 25 rebounds to become the second player in Big 12 history and the first in OU history to collect 40 points and 20 rebounds in a game.  She also set OU and Big 12 records with 20 field goals made on 26 attempts.

Football season is over but there is still a lot of excitement in Norman on the basketball court. The men's team is a work in progress during Capel's first season as head coach. They are improving and will no doubt be a lot better in February than they are now which is already a vast improvement from the beginning of the season.

The women on the other hand are the most dominant team in the conference and will be fun to watch as they go for consecutive undefeated conference seasons.
