Nate Carter has scored 28 points in Oklahoma's first
two conference games
Honestly when I saw that OU was a 17 point favorite over Colorado I said that there was no way the Sooners would cover. Don't get me wrong, I thought OU would win but I didn't see anyway they would outscore the Buffaloes buy 17 the way they had been shooting.
I also had no idea that Nate Carter would show up and play the way he did. I guess I should have speculated after a solid performance against Tech on Saturday. Carter shot 50% from the field (6-12) on his way to 15 points.
Tony Crocker also turned in another solid performance leading the team with 16 points but he earned 13 of them from the charity stripe by getting there 15 times. He was more than impressive in creating opportunities to score from the foul line which is something the Sooners have lack this season.
OU didn't out rebound the Buffs last night but they did out hustle and Colorado and smothered them with an impressive defensive performance. The Sooners forced 25 turnovers and only turned it over themselves 12 times. To me that was by far the biggest factor in Oklahoma's run away win. Colorado's turnovers turned into 33 Oklahoma points.
Like all games there is always room for improvement. OU was outscored in the paint 31-26 and Colorado also had a slight edge in second chance points 10-9.
