THE DISH ON TULSA
Tulsa enters the All-College Classic with an 8-1 record. All eight of their wins have been at home and their one loss was at North Texas. Tulsa's quality win this season was a 75-57 win over Oral Roberts but that's one more quality win than Oklahoma has.
On the season, TU is shooting .477 from the field, .352 from 3-point range and .737 from the free throw line. Opponents have shot .388 from the floor and .314 from beyond the arc. The Golden Hurricane has also out rebounded their opponents by 8.8 a game (40.2 to 31.4)
Guard Rod Earls leads Tulsa with his 12.8 points an outing and averages 3.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists. Earls also leads the team with 20 3-pointers (2.2 a game) and shoots .444 from long distance. Forward Darold Crow has come off the bench in all nine games but ranks second on the squad in scoring with 11.2 points. Guard Ben Uzoh contributes 10.2 points, a team-high 5.0 rebounds and 2.1 assists a game while shooting .492 from the field. Forward Charles Ramsdell averages 8.3 points and 4.2 rebounds while fellow forward Calvin Walls supplies 7.9 points and 4.8 boards a game.
WHAT THE SOONERS MUST DO
Keep their momentum! OU is coming off their most complete performance of the season Saturday night. They were clicking in all aspects of the game and that has to continue this afternoon. Tulsa isn't a team that Oklahoma will beat by just simply walking onto the floor. The Sooners are going to have to hustle and work to win this game.
Dominate down low! Longar Longar has been able to dominate against the weaker opponents on the schedule but has been below average against the stronger opponents. Today he and Taylor Griffin will have to both score and rebound to give Oklahoma a chance to win.
Protect the ball! Plain and simple if the Sooners continue to turn the ball over like they have in previous games they will lose.
Win! Yes, this is a must win game for Oklahoma. The Sooners down own a quality win this season and victory over Tulsa would be a start. This is gut check time for OU. Monday I asked if this team was getting better. We should know around 5:30 tonight.
