Oklahoma Football Coach Bob Stoops has been name the Big 12 Coach of the Year. In what many have his best coaching season since arriving in Norman Stoops led the Sooners to a 10-2 overall record including 7-1 in conference and a Big 12 South Division Title.
This award shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. I have stated often on this site that the job that Stoops has done this season in light of all the adversity the Sooners have gone through since day one has been simply amazing and worthy of this award. This marks the third time that he has won this award (2000, 2003).
Linebacker Rufus Alexander became the 5th Sooner to win a player of the year award since 2000. He joins the likes of Josh Heupel, the Roy Williams, Teddy Lehman and Jason White. Rufus leads the team in tackles (95) and is on pace to become the first Sooner defender to lead the team in tackles in back-to-back seasons since Rocky Calmus did it three straight from 1999-2001.
