Oklahoma safety Reggie Smith was named the defensive player of the week, while kick returner Juaquin Iglesias won the special teams honor.
Smith had two interceptions with 94 yards in returns. His first went for 42 yards and a touchdown, while his second went for 52 yards and set up the Sooner offense at the Baylor 18.
Iglesias had two returns for 111 yards, including an 88-yarder for a touchdown on a Baylor free kick. It was the first kickoff return for a touchdown by a Sooner player since Mark Bradley went for 100 yards against Iowa State in 2004.
Both guys are just sophomores which bodes well for the future of Oklahoma. This is the second time this season that Reggie Smith has won the award. The first time was after the Middle Tennessee State game back in September when Smith was named the Special Teams Player of the Week.
