One thing Paul Thompson won't have to worry about Saturday is being sacked by the Tigers career sack leader. Missouri defensive end Brian Smith broke his right hip in last weekend's game and will be out for the remainder of the season.
Smith was tied for third in the Big 12 for sacks with 7.5 this season. His injury was apparently freakish in nature based on Missouri Head Coach Gary Pinkel's description.
"If you saw that film, you'd say there's no way in the world he even got hurt," Pinkel said Monday on the Big 12 coaches teleconference. "He just kind of turned and kind of stumbled. There was not hardly any contact at all. It was just as freakish as you could ever imagine."
