The game was postponed until Monday with a restart time of 3:05 p.m. CT. The if-necessary game is slated for 6:05 p.m. CT. Both games can be heard on the Sooner Sports Network KREF 1400 AM and seen on ESPN2.
A fit for winning baseball, for sure, but also a fit in regard to pleasing fans and alums bent on a connection to OSU's rich past. In Holliday – raised in Stillwater on Cowboys baseball, as a coach's son and an OSU player and later an assistant – the school found a bridge to the glory days of the program. He grew up around the program, with his father Tom first serving as an assistant to Gary Ward for 19 seasons and later leading the Cowboys as head coach. From 1996-99, Josh played for both Ward and his dad, finishing among the career leaders in several offensive categories.
For his part, Oklahoma coach Sunny Golloway isn't shying away from the budding stroy line. Says Golloway of Gamecocks 19-game winning streak, "I think that streak is outstanding. It’s long, and I think that we need to have something to say about it." Make no mistake about it, Oklahoma feels like it should have been the team to take home the 2010 National Title, and they'll be gunning for the Gamecocks come this weekend. As of May 29 the Sooners were ranked #29 in the NCAA RPI. The Gamecocks, meanwhile are ranked #11 in the RPI and #7 in Baseball America's most recent poll.
Hopefully the Sooners deliver a better performance than they are expecting them to.
Wildcats will now play the loser of today's OU/Baylor Game.
Very happy to see this happen.
Yep, all of my organs froze walking to class this morning, but baseball season is still right around the corner. Our old friend Corn Blight from Corn Nation is heading up Big 12 Hardball, SB Nation's first blog devoted solely to college baseball. Swing by and check it out.
I published an off-season update on Big-12 baseball at Rock Chalk Talk. It includes a section on new TTU coach Dan Spencer and a link to an interview he gave at Rivals.com. Updates also on the Andy Oliver mess in Stillwater, the OU clubhouse and Aaron Crow. Kendall Roger's believes TTU and KU belong together in misery. He gave both teams an F in 2008.
