Brigham Young quarterback Max Hall dislocated the ring finger on his throwing hand during a scrimmage Monday. Hall had the finger popped back into place and resumed practicing. While icing his hand after practice, he hold reporters he would be fine. The Sooners open with BYU on Sept. 5 at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington. As they prepare for that game, the Cougars have had bad luck with injuries this fall, especially on the offensive line, where they only return one starter. That lone returning starter, left tackle Matt Reynolds, underwent surgery to repair a fracture in his left hand last week and is questionable to return in time for the OU game. Last week, the Cougars lost projected starting left guard Jason Speredon to a season-ending shoulder injury.

NORMAN -- Just two weeks before the start of practice, Oklahoma has added a quarterback. Well, Lane Johnson was a quarterback. He was all-district at Texas Class 2A Groveton before quarterbacking at Kilgore College last fall. Now that Johnson has reportedly accepted OU’s scholarship offer, the 6-6 250-pounder will be playing tight end.

Looks like he was going to be a project anyway but you hate to see guys not make it. Hopefully he can get things straightened up in junior college and join the team next summer. "It’s too bad," said Legacy coach Chris Melson, who played quarterback at OU in the late 1980s to early 1990s. "He graduated, but his grades needed to be higher."
