Reader Emails - What Do You Want to Talk About?

Well, since baseball sucks again and football is still three months away from getting really exciting it is becoming extremely difficult to come up with topics to post about here on the Machine. That is where you, the reader, come in! Send us your comments, questions and suggestions and we'll respond through a post about it. I can't promise that it'll be as entertaining as my man Strong Bad (above) but I'll do my best.

OU / Washington on ESPN
It seems to me it's been a while since OU has landed prime time on ESPN against a decent opponent (Alabama last?). Looks like OU will be playing at night in Husky Stadium. This game has me a little worried frankly, but is there reason to be? Husky fans strike me as a bit gentle (unlike Seahawk fans) when their team is down, but they can be rabid, which I saw first-hand during the Steve Entman years. Husky Stadium has a reputation for being a tough place to play and noisy, but probably not as loud as Autzen Stadium in Eugene? I think this is a game where an experienced offensive line (all seniors?) and QB nullify the home field advantage. I hope to be in Seattle for the game.

Two Things About That Game
  1. OU never plays on ESPN because ESPN doesn't have a Big 12 contract. It will be odd seeing them on ESPN and not ABC (not much difference I know) or FSN (whose coverage is awful).
  2. The game itself should, I emphasize should, be a blowout. Washington was the worst team in the Pac-10 last season so after an early stop and score, the crowd will be out of it and the Sooners will roll over them. Granted this is a prediction on May 6th a mere 4 months away but still, I don't see Washington being able to stay with us, baring some kind of replay shenanigans.

i disagree
recall when we played UW last season, it was a close game and Isaiah Stanback is not as good a QB as jake locker (i know i cant spell whatevea)
as for them being last in the league, they were still competitive and almost took down USC, and were in it against Ohio State.
It'll be closer than any of us want and will really test the defense and how they will react against a mobile QB.

That game
was Paul Thomson's either second or third game as starting QB and the D hadn't started clicking yet. Running QB's not named Vince Young have always given OU problems.

team by team previews for OUs oppenents this season (like smqs absurdly premature assesments.)
