Feb. 27, 2008
NORMAN, Okla. -- February 28, 2008--The OU Lacrosse team suffered two tough losses this past weekend in Dallas.
The Sooners faced UNT Saturday afternoon and lost 20-2. The Mean Green started off strong, scoring 5 goals in the first quarter alone. They continued scoring throughout, though OU goalie Connor Zwinggi made a strong stand with 42 saves on the day. Senior Ray Wilcox scored both goals for the Sooners.
OU played SMU Sunday afternoon and lost the contest 15-4. SMU scored 5 unanswered points in the first quarter. The Sooners started out scoreless in the first quarter but picked up the pace in the second and third quarters. The Sooners unfortunately could not keep pace with the Mustangs and were held scoreless in the fourth quarter. Ray Wilcox had 2 goals, and Chrispy Hoover and Hudson Seidel each had 1.
The Sooners return home this weekend to play against Kansas State University. The teams will play Saturday at 1 p.m. at the intramural fields on Jenkins. Kansas State is 1-3 so far on the season. Weather conditions are expected to be ideal for play on Saturday- sunny, with the high in the high 60s. It should be a great day for Sooner fans to come out and enjoy some great lacrosse play.
