Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

This is Why We Can't Have Nice Things

Okay, I go to Mexico for just a few days and look what happens. Things were going swimmingly for the Sooners as they prepare to defend their Big 12 Championship on the gridiron but while I was south of the border the OU secondary went a little south as well when safety Darien Williams suffered a stress fracture in his left foot that will put him on the shelf for up to six weeks. I realize that this is old news to most of you but the only football news I could find in Mexico was about a sport played with a round ball.

The Oklahoma Sooner defense is expected to be stout this season and Williams should be back before the North Texas Game on September 1st I just hate to see pieces of the puzzle get broken before the season even starts.

I guess the news could have been worse like the news coming out of Stillwater. Speaking of the Oklahoma State Cowboys, how long will the basketball team's rap sheet be by the time the season actually starts?

One final thought on things I missed while gone. The Big 12 pre-season rankings came out and the Sooners are picked to finish second behind Texas in the south. Seems like that was the consensus last year as well and we all know how that turned out.
