Oklahoma Sooners Welcome Pokes for a Bedlam Bashing!

Curtis Lofton and the Oklahoma defense punished Zac Robinson all afternoon.

Oklahoma set the tone for the game early and then pounded Oklahoma State over and over with Allen Patrick and Chris Brown who combined for 289 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns. The Duo set up Sam Bradford to become the NCAA's all-time freshman touchdown passer with a modest 148 yard, 4 touchdown performance in OU's 49-17 Bedlam rout.

Allen Patrick was the offensive star for the Sooners. In the absence of DeMarco Murray Patrick rushed 29 times for 202 yards and two scores and also caught an 11 yard touchdown pass as well.

Defensively the player who had the most outstanding performance was Curtis Lofton who registered eight tackles and forced two fumbles. Oklahoma's defense gave up almost 200 rushing yards but pressured and pounded OSU quarterback Zac Robinson until he finally left the game in the 4th quarter. I thought that OU would have a better chance to slow OSU's rushing attack but they gladly surrendered yards on the ground to hold the Cowboy's passing attack to only 104 yards.

The Sooners went back to their roots with a power rushing attack and a tormenting defense which makes you wonder why they couldn't just knuckle down and overpower Texas Tech on the ground last week. I'm afraid that this will be a season where Sooner fans will look back for a long time and wonder what if.

Up next for the Sooners is either Kansas or Missouri next Saturday in San Antonio for the conference championship game. It will be Oklahoma's sixth championship game appearance in the last eight seasons.

a well played game
by the Sooners on both sides of the ball.  How do you beat a spread offense? You pound them every play, offense and defense.  Here's to hoping they will give mizzou the same lesson in pounding.
