Big 12 Roundtable - The Rise of the North

This week's roundtable discussion is being hosted at Clone Chronicles. You'll want to make sure to head over there to check out all the responses from some of the best Big 12 bloggers around. As for my responses, well, just check below.

Were Saturday's games a sign that the Big 12 North may be on its way back?

It certainly means that the North is better but it could be that the South is declining instead of north rising. Texas is a bad team and Oklahoma played like one on Saturday. While Oklahoma's performance in Boulder could be an anomaly the Longhorns have looked bad all season. So it appears, at this point, that the roles are reversed. The north has some solid teams with Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas and Kansas State a team that is quickly improving, Colorado, and a dog in Iowa State. The South has a contender in Oklahoma and what appears to be mediocre teams in Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State and a dog in Baylor.

So, yes, if things continue the way they are you could definitely say that the north is on its way back.

How seriously do we take the hot starts at Mizzou and Kansas?

Missouri has an impressive win over Illinois while Kansas is most noted for their blowout wins over the likes of Southeastern Louisiana and Florida International. While we should take their fast starts seriously let's not make too much of it until after this weekend when both teams will be tested. Missouri could put themselves in the conference driver's seat with a win over Nebraska and the Jayhawks could prove that they are for real with a win over Kansas State.

Bottom line! I think this question will answer itself on Saturday.

Pick one team from the opposite division that you truly hate, and say why; follow this up by picking another team from the opposite division that you don't mind pulling for, and say why.

I can't really say that I hate any teams from the North. I guess I've been known to occasionally cheer against Kansas State because many of their fans were classless jerks at the Big 12 Championship game in 2003. However, I was a big fan of the Wildcats last Saturday.

I always cheer for the North when they play South teams because it benefits Oklahoma but I have no problems cheering for Nebraska at anytime. Texas may be OU's biggest rival but the Huskers are the Sooners most respected. Their fans are classy and knowledgeable about football as well.

Unfortunately you can't say the same about their coach.

The NCAA has enacted a rule allowing you to bring back one senior that graduated last year to play for your team for the rest of the season. Would you do it? And if so, who?

I don't think that I would take any of our graduated seniors back this year. Not because they weren't good but because this team has gelled very well and up until last Saturday had a good thing going. The thing that OU fans need to hang their hats on is that for the most part this is a young Oklahoma team and will continue to get better with time.

Rank the conference teams.
1.    Missouri
2.    Nebraska
3.    Oklahoma
4.    Kansas State
5.    Texas
6.    Kansas
7.    Texas Tech
8.    Texas A&M
9.    Oklahoma State
10.    Colorado
11.    Baylor
12.    Iowa State
