Sooner Nation Replay: 2012 Recruiting Class With ESPN Sooner Nation's Bob Przybylo

via a.espncdn.com Durron Neal is expected to be better than advertised. He has the passion for the game, the passion for the Sooners, and the drive to become a player to watch.

With the 2011 season in the books and nearly all the recruits the Oklahoma Sooners had been going after already having signed letters of intent with OU or another school, where does that leave us...evaluations. While it is never fair to grade out a class before they ever play a snap on the college level, ESPN Sooner Nation's Bob Przybylo joins us to break it all down. From who we should look at to have an immediate impact to the lack of linebacker recruits, we have it all. Not only do we dive in and take a look at the incoming class, we also take a look at 2013 prospects as Bob gives us the inside scoop. The Sooner coaching staff has taken an early and aggressive approach to the 2013 class but only time will tell if it will pay off.

West Virginia & Big East Reach Settlement - Mountaineers Coming To BIG XII In 2012

Photo

Road trip!!!! Oklahoma is about to take what I'm willing to bet is the longest road trip for a conference game in the one hundred plus years of Sooner football. The Big East Conference and the West Virginia Mountaineers reached a conditional settlement on Thursday that will set WVU free to join the Big XII this year. An official announcement could be made as early as Friday.

OU Football Recruiting - Crunching The 2013 Numbers On Offense

via media.247sports.com Four star RB Greg Bryant out of Florida is "stuck on Oklahoma."

Oklahoma held it's first Junior Day almost one week ago and is scheduled to be hosting a second the first weekend in March. As you've likely surmised, the college football recruiting cycle never really ends. Heck, it only even slows down during NCAA mandated silent periods. So as we close out the 2012 recruiting calendar, we simultaneously turn the first page of 2013. The Sooners took a full class of 25 commits in 2012, so this 2013 class projects to be a little smaller. Probably more in the 17-22 range depending of course on possible transfers or NFL early entrants. It's also a class that should feature many more players on the defensive side of the ball after a very heavy offensive class in 2012.

With that, we're going to give you a ridiculously early breakdown of some early targets on OU's 2013 radar as well as some projections as to how many players at each position the Sooners could be looking to take.

Quarterback: 1

Targets: Tyrone Swoopes (Whitewright, TX), Kelly Hilinski (Sherman Oaks, CA), Max Browne (Sammamish, WA), Brayden Scott (Tahlequah, OK)

Breakdown: Honestly, with Drew Allen, Blake Bell, Kendal Thompson, and Trevor Knight the Sooners could probably afford not to take a quarterback in this 2013 class. But the general rule for most schools and one that Bob Stoops has adopted is that you generally take at least one QB in every class. Oklahoma has yet to make an offer to a quarterback and based on the early names being mentioned as possible candidates for said offer, the Sooners are setting their sights pretty high. Browne and Swoopes are #8 & #11 respectively in the recently released Rivals Top 100 for 2013, while Hilinski is also highly regarded. Scott is the wild card in the sense that if OU offers, based on some of his recent comments, seems like a commitment waiting to happen.

With the expectation of the Sooners only taking one quarterback, it's highly likely they take their time and are very selective with who they choose to offer at the position. Especially with what looks like it could be a sure thing with Brayden Scott.

Oklahoma Officially Out Of The Running For 2012 Recruit Davonte Neal

Photo

There has been talk for several days that Oklahoma had been eliminated from consideration for the 2012 commitment of highly regarded Arizona athlete Davonte Neal. For whatever reason, the general consensus towards the initial reports was one of slight hesitation as OU fans held out hope that Neal's relationship with new OU LB coach Tim Kish could have kept them in the game.

However, very soon to be guest of the CCM podcast Bob Przybylo has now confirmed ($) the initial reports after exchanging text messages with Neal's father (Luke). As the earlier reports had stated, evidently OU just entered the picture a little too late.

And with that, the book can now be officially closed on OU's 2012 recruiting class.

OU Football Recruiting - Revisiting The Class Of 2008

Oklahoma tight end James Hanna was a 4-star recruit in 2008 and will always be remembered for this 76-yard touchdown in the 2010 Bedlam game.

Oklahoma landed the nation's tenth ranked recruiting class (as ranked by Rivals) last week with a total of 25 commitments. However, we all know that a class ranking really isn't determined by how they look going into school its determined more so by what they've accomplished before they leave the school. For that reason we're going to take a look back to four years ago at the 2008 Oklahoma recruiting class.

2012 Oklahoma Baseball Preview - Pitchers

Photo

Over the last couple of year's the Sooners have made their mark on college baseball with their bats. This season it will be the arms of the hurlers that get Oklahoma through as the young bats of the new guys develop to the major collegiate level. Oklahoma has a deep bullpen that's filled with power, youth and experience. The question is can this group of pitchers carry the team through the 2012 season?
