The Sooners' Aaryn Ellenberg was named preseason first team All Big 12, while Whitney Hand also earned honorable mention status. Both will contribute to what should be a solid OU women's basketball team in 2012-13.
Matt Byer committed to OU on July 2, and has been forced to give up football because he was diagnosed with a spinal-cord condition. OU has decided not to honor his scholarship. There may be a legit reason behind why OU can't honor Beyer's scholarship. But with FSU recently honoring Richy Klepal's scholarship, this makes OU look a little low class in my opinion. Granted... OU definitely to use scholarships to bring in more talent, after what we witnessed on Saturday. But if OU can find a way to put like 30 kickers on scholarship, we can afford one for this kid.
SB Nation's K-State site, Bring On The Cats, hosted their weekly podcast and pulled out the big guns in the form of ESPN's David Ubben. Check it, and Bring On The Cats, out all week for all of your K-State info as we work our way towards Saturday night.
According to a report Wednesday in the Sports Business Journal, the University of Oklahoma could earn "upwards of $7 million new annual revenue from both Fox and the school’s multimedia rights holder, Learfield Sports."
Obviously, that number is nowhere near the $15 million rival Texas is stealing receives from ESPN but that should take nothing away from this report (assuming its accuracy, of course).
Again, if accurate, this would be a a substantial increase in revenue from the figures that were initially thrown out.
Oh, and cha-ching.
2013 Dallas (TX) Kimball defensive tackle Justin Manning recently narrowed his list to five and set his official visit dates. The first of those five that he will take will happen this weekend, when the 6-3, 275-pounder makes his way up to Norman to watch the Oklahoma Sooners take on the Kansas State Wildcats in a big contest for both teams to start Big 12 play.
Personally, I could care less about this for a couple reasons. (1) The AP Poll is meaningless for anything other than simple discussion purposes. (2) I've always believed OU at No. 5 was overrated. Maybe OU proves worthy of a Top 5 (or even higher) at some point, but thru two games I'm not of the opinion they have done so. But like I said, who really cares? All our Sooners have to do is win each week and everything will take care of itself.
And before you ask. No, we don't have a shot with him. Now, if you were one of those pot stirrers you might say, oh I don't know. You might say Mack "backed off" because of a recent knee injury RSJ suffered. Probably unfair of you because, even as slimy as we know him to be, Mack doesn't really have a history of this. But, hey, you're stirring the pot. You might say Mack and his Texas sized ego were so bruised that they "backed off" because of his decommitment and subsequent delay in re-committing to the mighty Horns. You might even say that Mack is so petty and so proud of his self proclaimed championship of offered vs. committed recruits that they "backed off" in order to claim "Hey, we backed off him" as opposed to the alternative. You know, that thing they call reality. But again, you'd only say things such as these if you were looking to stir the pot. And that is definitely not what we're doing here.

HUGE win for Coach Potter and the OU program. Congrats to both!
