"OKLAHOMA Tidy pummelings are Bob Stoops' favorite way to break in the season, and there's a good chance the Sooners can string together a good long chain of them all the way to the Baylor game on November 8. Tight end Blake Bell had a receiving TD against Tulsa, the same Blake Bell who started at quarterback for the Sooners to begin 2013. You don't need to go out and buy something new, Oklahomans. Stoops can turn that old, scratched-up wardrobe of yours into a canoe the whole family can enjoy in just one simple step!"
New venue, new head coach, same result: beatdown at the hands of BYU. Bronco Mendenhall's football team outplayed Texas in every phase of the game for the second straight year, and this time the final score more accurately reflected the Cougars' dominance. Midway through the third quarter, there was no doubt that the superior team was pulling away for a comfortable victory.
The folks at SoonerSports.tv have released this week's scene setter in preparation for the Tulsa game.
Soon, Mixon appears wearing a t-shirt with sunglasses propped on his forehead and a lanyard around his neck. Neither Molitor nor Mixon appear threatened based on their body language and Mixon appears to start to walk away before Molitor pushes him. Mixon lunges at her with a closed fist by his side before Molitor slaps him near the top of his neck on his left side. That’s when Mixon delivers a right hook that knocks Molitor first into the table on her left ear and then to the floor where she laid motionless for several moments.
2. Oklahoma They killed Louisiana Tech, and some first place vote love from Marshall gets them bumped just ahead of Georgia and Michigan State in the standings. Trevor Knight looks great, and the defense, well, stout as always. Are they overrated? Maybe. Does Bob Stoops care? Not one, single, bit. Week 1 Status: Dr. Perry Cox
We thought the #Sooners turned in one of the most impressive performances in the conference in Week One. Do the folks at SB Nation agree?
The Sooners got off to a running start to the 2014 college football season (literally) by manhandling the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs in Norman on Saturday night. We had the privilege of catching up with Sooner Sports Network sideline reporter Chris Plank to get his take on the Jordan Evans ejection, running backs and receivers, why the tight ends aren't catching passes and more.
2. Oklahoma (48-16 over Louisiana Tech) The Sooners came into this season with national playoff contention talk surrounding the program. They did not disappoint on Saturday (unlike UCLA, who barely beat lowly Virginia). The Sooners pounded Louisiana Tech, a potential contender in the Conference USA west division. Tech should win eight or nine games this season, but couldn't compete with Oklahoma. Sooner running backs averaged almost five yards per carry and scored five touchdowns. The defense held Skip Holtz' team to 54 yards rushing on 29 attempts. OU's defense gave up just a field goal until the fourth quarter. Special teams blocked a punt and an extra point. Trevor Knight played an average game, completing only 19 of 34 pass attempts with one TD and one INT. With Tulsa on the schedule this week, the Sooners will not get tested again until they play Tennessee at home on the 13th.
To me,the music was way too loud, played way too often and in my opinion actually detracted from the whole game experience. Not sure what to think of the WiFi deal, all of the texting etc on the cell phones was enough to drive me crazy and now the fans are bringing laptops and holding them up in the air to take photos.Instead of something worthwhile being shown on the big screen, we are asked to text in whether we prefer the cornheads or the red foam hats! Dedicated lines at the concessions for debit cards is another thing that I'm sure will really appeal to some but is it really that hard to carry a few bucks cash to buy a soda and a dog?
Just in case you missed this from the one and only HolaKyle
