I could hardly believe my eyes and ears while watching the Thunder handling the Phoenix Suns the other night, when a short ad came on that said "OU Spring Game - - - Sunday at 4:00 PM on Fox Sports Oklahoma". It was late in the evening, did I hear it right? A bit later, in the second half, I saw the spot again. That lead me to searching their website to verify details to share with my brothers and sisters here on Crimson and Cream Machine. The FS Oklahoma / FS Southwest website was no help as there was no listing, but I did scroll to Sunday afternoon on the program guide on my TV and was able to confirm it. Unfortunately, it looks like it's only a 30 minute highlight show, but it gives the faithful one last chance for a taste of Sooner football before fall.

Hey everyone! I was wondering if we knew which current recruiting targets will be in Norman this weekend for the Spring Game and what if any commitments we may be expecting? I hope that there will be at least a few LB's there...also heard that Hillinksi was coming in this weekend..is that true? Looking forward to seeing how some folks have progressed...especially Blake Bell and alsoTrey Metoyer. Any "pre-game" predictions on who will win? Crimson or cream?

First posting for me since football season. I was unable to respond to the month old wrestling thread started by Pcasooner, so I started this to show where OU wrestling is.

After last season Coach Spates called it a career. He's still a huge fan and can be seen at Sooner's matches though. Our new coach is Mark Cody. Cody previously coached at American University, and took them all the way to 5th at NCAAs, while setting many school records. OU managed to procure Cody's services at coach, and OU's fans are very enthusiastic about him. He's a very positive coach and gets the best out of his wrestlers.

Jordan Esco already described how the Sooners fared at the conference championship, so I'll move on from there. OU's first year under Cody at the NCAAs they had 2 All Americans, including Kendrick Maple (3rd) and Nick Lester (8th). All Sooner wrestling fans are expecting big things from Coach Cody, and he will deliver. I'm making a not-so-bold prediction that Cody will have OU finishing in the top 5 every year within 5 years.

Word On the Internet is that Greg Bryant committed to the Sooners this weekend...is there any truth to that?mi won't believe it until our team here at ccm confirm it, since we have the best of the best here!!! Also wondering if there is any reaction from the others that were on campus and when or who the next visitors/commits will be. Can't wait for the spring game!! Then of course we go back into the dull drums of the offseason :(

Supposedly when Kenny Stills got back from Spring Break he had a long talk with the coaches and they reamed his a$$. Told him he better get is %*$# in gear or else. Since the talk he has been making some big plays. In my opinion its about time someone talked to him and told him OU isn't gonna stand for that primadonna crap. Reports are that Metoyer is making Stills look terrible, everyone is allready saying Metoyer is the best WR on the team and he has only been here a couple of months. And, once Gardner and Neal get on campus Stills may find him self not being relavent. So, hopefully that talk was what he needed to get his game back to where every sooner fan expects it to be. Because if he is able to draw bracket coverage then that leaves Metoyer, Gardner and Neal/Reynolds to light things up. Add to that a running game with Whaley, Williams, Finch and please please please Millard, then I am very optimistic about this season.

Over at the "Texas sunshine pumpers" post I was challenged to review Aaron Colvin's play last season after I scoffed at the assertion that he was Vaccaro's equal on the playing field. So I pulled up the Oklahoma games vs. A&M and KSU and took note of Colvin and Harris' usage and performance. Very informative.

I'll go ahead and admit that I definitely undervalued Colvin, he's a great player. I've been slow to catch on to one of Stoops' major personnel adjustments to the spread offense. It's very easy to note that the SAM linebacker position has been stocked with Safety-Linebacker hybrids (your Roy-backer), but that's not the only switch OU has made in choosing personnel. Stoops' particular style of Cover-3 ends up with the Strong Safety playing basically catch-man coverage against the slot receiver and the numerous pressure packages y'all employ also isolates the SS in man-to-man coverage.

My thinking of OU has been that their response to the spread has been to play 2 corners and 3 safeties, I see now that it's really more like 3 corners and 2 safeties. And while his position is as safety, Colvin's skillset is more that of a corner. More after the jump

UT's "Elite" Defense

Maybe except the game in which our defense was responsible for more points than UT scored all game? I suppose they could have done better than holding our O to 34, but it wouldn't have mattered. Good for a chuckle in the slow off-season.

Not sure anyone noticed this or not....but I just went to NewsOk for the first time in awhile and noticed that Travis Haney wasn't mentioned or featured on there anymore....anyone know what happened?

Kenny Stills is supposedly hurt again. What's new, I know. But, the good news is Metoyer is impressing everyone. It has been reported that he is making huge plays. One reported heard from someone who is at every practice that Metoyer has no idea what he is doing and he is already the best WR on the team.

I am still holding out hope that Stills can play up to the potential everyone thinks he can. Because having Stills, Metoyer, Gardner and Neal / Reynolds on the field at the same time will be insane. Now if we can just add some type of a running game to keep the defenses honest this next season could be really fun.

So...my father was a wrestler in high school and college and over the weekend he asked me how OU wrestling was going and OF COURSE, I directed him to this sight, for all things Oklahoma, but no info could be found...can anyone give me any updates on the OU wrestling season? Not even sure who is on the team or what their schedule is like. I hate to say this,but outside of Hulk Hogan, the Rock, the Ultimate Warrior and of course our very own Jim Ross, I don't know much about wrestling...I got wrastlin down but wrestling is a stretch....can anyone help me out with this sport?
