The Media Seems to Think the Game is Already Decided
I wanted to put this out there before this evening's BCS National Championship game, but I haven't seen the public opinion so heaviliy one sided in a game of this magnitude in a very long time. Vegas says that the Florida Gators are 2.5-3 point favorites over the Oklahoma Sooners this evening (the line has since been fluctuating a bit higher but that is due to the money being placed on the game, not Vegas' perceptions of the teams) and I have to believe that at least one of those points is due to the fact that Florida will definitely have some sort of home-field advantage tonight. I know that Vegas creates lines to influence the equal distribtion of dollars and not their opinions of the two teams involved but it is a proven fact that the two go hand in hand...
Check out the rest out and the media predictions here.

Sports Illustrated Archive of 2000 NC Game
I am getting awfully antsy with the game looming now and while looking around at various blogs, I stumbled across the Sports Illustrated archive. They provide free access to lots (maybe all) of their past articles and highlighted on their CFB page was the article detailing the NC game from 2000.

AP is confirming OU-BYU to open new Cowboys Stadium
(Bumped From The FanPosts)
I had heard the rumors and now it looks like they have come true - the Sooners will face the BUY Cougars in the first college football game to be played at the new Cowboys Stadium opening next fall.
While there are other college games scheduled, this will be the first one in the stadium and will be played over the Labor Day holiday, so it will be an early season test for the Sooners against what could be a solid BYU team who just lost to another Stoops coached team.
No confirmation over on SoonerSports.com though - they seem to be busy covering some other event currently....

Wouldn't You Like to Be In Denver for the Game?
Up until the end of August, I lived in Denver for 12 years and was very active in the OU Club of Colorado. (I eventually wised up and moved back home, and I am much happier. But that's another story.)
As some background, The UF and OU clubs in Denver share the same sports bar for their watch parties. I would say that this week, it will be the next best thing to actually being at the game...there will be as many raucous Gator fans as OU fans.
For your enjoyment and edification, I am posting the e-mail I received about Thursday night's game. If any of you are in Denver, you should try to check it out...the watch parties are great there.
-------------------
Sooner Fans: It's BIG GAME time and we're planning a big night for the Club at Jacksons Grill (20th St., across from Coors Fields) for the BCS championship.
First, we will be auctioning off a duplicate photo of Owen Field signed by three OU Heisman Trophy winners (Owens, White and Sims), the same one we auctioned off at the Big 12 Championship Watch Party. We will also have cool trivia and raffle giveaways.
As Florida University will also be watching the game at Jacksons that night, we want to remind you to demonstrate OU sportsmanship and decorum. Florida and OU are not enemies, but friendly rivals. There will be x-tra security there including staff from Jacksons and Denver Police. Also, please be careful of drinking and driving as I can guarantee you there will be Denver "DUI police" there.
We will have the middle and back rooms on the first floor, and the front room will be "open" seating/standing for both schools. Florida will be in the upstairs room. Please don't go into their "space" as they are being told not to come into ours!
Let's have a grt night and celebrate with Sooner passion! I look forward to seeing you on Thursday. Game time is 6pm, but we suggest you get there early.
Boomer Sooner!

Harvin states "Cutting still feels awkward"
Harvin: 'Cutting still feels awkward'
Florida star receiver Percy Harvin said he is 90 percent healthy Monday as the No. 1 Gators prepared to face No. 2 Oklahoma on Thursday, nearly six weeks after he suffered a high ankle sprain against Florida State.
Harvin practiced for the second straight day but said he will not be tackled this week before the FedEx BCS National Championship Game. He began running routes and catching passes last Tuesday.
Percy's injury caused him to miss Florida's final game of the regular season, a 31-20 victory over then-No. 1 Alabama in the SEC title game.
"Cutting still feels awkward," Harvin said at media day Monday.
----------
I've been wondering about this, and like hearing it... reducing his cutting and maneuverability will make him less a weapon.

Fiesta Bowl Game Thread

This thread will move over to the main page after the Oklahoma basketball game ends. So far the Big 12 South is 0-2 in bowl games and the conference needs Texas to win in order to have a chance for a winning bowl record. Surely the Longhorns won't go down to the Big 10, right? Or do you even care? Can Sooner fans cheer for Texas as long as it is for the greater good of the conference? I have to admit that I'm going to have a hard time with it because I know that they won't be cheering for us on Thursday night!

In the news
First, a nice article on Coach Stoops from the Gainesville Sun...
Next, this story is making its way around Gator Nation with reckless abandon. I have already received it via e-mail and text. This Gator says "meh....." Franks didn't really call out anyone or say anything that I would call "bulletin board material." I think the media often looks too hard at these things...I would hope our team doesn't need something this marginal for motivation.

Just thought you guys would find the above interesting....
