Lacrosse?
Was this a club match?  Because I'm certain K-State does not have an interscholastic lacrosse team.

Response From Assistant Coach Tim Matheson
I didn't really know how to answer this so I asked Tim Matheson who is an assistant coach for the Sooners. Here's his response, "Yes, it both teams are club teams.

More about club lacrosse in the United States

About the MCLA

The Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA) is a national organization of non-varsity, college lacrosse programs.

With close to 200 teams in two divisions, the MCLA represents the fastest growing segment of college men's lacrosse.

The MCLA provides a governing structure much like the NCAA, with eligibility rules, national polls, All-Americans and a national tournament to decide national champions in both the A and B Divisions. Its nine conferences are spread across the country, from coast to coast.

The MCLA exists to provide a quality college lacrosse experience where varsity lacrosse does not yet exist. On an individual scale, the MCLA provides rules and a structure that promotes "virtual varsity" lacrosse.

On a national scale, the MCLA provides the infrastructure to support a level playing field through eligibility rules and enforcement and the use of NCAA rules of play.

The purpose of the MCLA is to grow the men's college game, and with an increase from 70 teams to nearly 200 in just nine years it is apparent that the mission is being accomplished

Within the MCLA are 9 conferences.

OU belongs to the Lone Star Alliance consisting of 20 teams.

The Lone Star Alliance (LSA) is the premier college lacrosse conference in Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana.  Our teams are members of a larger national organization called the Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA).

Our players are true student athletes, playing for the love of the game.  Our teams do not offer athletic scholarships.  In fact, most players must pay to play.  Our players must meet strict eligibility requirements, manage team budgets, and schedule games just like athletic directors.  All the hard work helps develop multi-talented young men. Our outstanding players receive LSA honors at the end of each season.  Our larger national governing body also routinely bestows All-America accolades on our players for their play on the field.  We also place many players on the Academic All-America team.

The Wildcats belong to the Great Rivers Lacrosse Conference.

this weekend
we beat K State 16-6 then the wildcats played again at 4 pm against OSU.  K State beat them 20-8.  So it looks like a great match up for the sooners this weekend.  we should score at least 20 goals.  although, it the scoring gets out of hand, we will play mostly rookies and or freshmen to get them some game time as  we did in the second half of our game last weekend.  no need to run the score up.
