According to Scott Howard-Cooper of NBA.com, former Oklahoma Sooner Buddy Hield is the favorite to take home the Rookie of the Year award this season, listed ahead of Brandon Ingram (Los Angeles Lakers, Duke) and Kris Dunn (Minnesota Timberwolves, Providence). Per Howard-Cooper:
Though Hield has cooled off a bit as the preseason has gone on, he opened the preseason with an 8-for-12 shooting night that resulted in 19 points over only 25 minutes. He gained a reputation for being a tireless worker while at Oklahoma, so I fully expect him to be an impact player for a long time in the NBA. He’s going to have some rough patches in which many will criticize him for being inefficient due to the fact that he’s a volume shooter with a mediocre defensive game, but we’ll be seeing lot of him in the national spotlight making OU proud throughout this season and in years to come.
