The BOOMs just keep on coming for Oklahoma, as 2017 ILB Jacob Phillips has announced his commitment to Oklahoma. Phillips chose the Sooners over Alabama, Notre Dame, Oregon and the late-charging Texas A&M Aggies. He had stated how much he’d enjoyed his visit to A&M in a tweet last weekend, which made most think that A&M was a real player for his services. However, Tim Kish appears to have staved off the Aggies for one of the elite prospects in the country.
The Nashville product has the elite size (6-3.5, 228) and speed to make major programs across the nation covet his services, which is a testament to how well the Oklahoma coaching staff is doing on the recruiting trail this year.
Phillips is rated as the No. 194 overall prospect and No. 7 ILB in the 247 Composite rankings, but he’s rated as high as No. 37 overall by Rivals. Needless to say, this is a huge get for OU. Phillips is Oklahoma’s 22nd commitment and 16th four-star commitment of the 2017 class.
