After winning both of their opening conference seres (2-1 over both Kansas State and Kansas) the Sooners are taking a break from conference play to host CSU Bakersfield in a three game series this weekend. It could be perfect timing for Oklahoma as the Sooners had struggled to score runs in their last five games. Riding a two-game losing streak, a change of pace may provide the confidence boost the Sooners are looking for.

The Road Runners come to Norman with an 11-16 record and are 2-7 away from home. Freshman Max Carter has been phenomenal for CSU Bakersfield by hitting a team high .358 with a home run and 12 RBI. He is one of four players on the team with a home run this season, with none of them having hit more than one. He's also one of three Road Runners hitting above .300 on the year, joined by senior Allen Gwynn (.341) and junior Garrett Pierce (.313). Sophomore Chance Gusbeth is leading the team in RBI with 18 on the season.

CSU Bakersfield's weekend starters have a combined 7-11 record with Friday starter Taylor Aikenhead being the only one in the group with a winning record at 4-3 this season. He also leads the team in strikeouts at 41, with Sunday starter Austin Davis just behind at 35 KOs on the year.

The Sooners also have three players batting above .300 on the year and are led by Mac James (.400) who has driven in 22 runs. Hunter Haley (.345) has hit a team high five home runs and also leads the way with 25 runs batted in. Anthony Hermelyn (.316) has knocked in 18 RBI and has gone yard once this season.

In opposite fashion of the Road Runners. Oklahoma's weekend rotation features two hurlers with winning records and one who is sub .500 for the year. Corey Copping is 2-0 on the year, with six starts, and has a season ERA of 3.42. Adam Choplick's 37 strikeouts are a team high, with two pitchers tied behind at 24 each. Sunday starter Jake Elliott has a slight edge over Choplick for the team high in innings pitched with 40.1 in seven starts.
