Expectations

Whoa. What a difference 60 minutes can make.

Oklahoma Sooner fans have high expectations. I know this is no surprise, but hear me out. I have typed, spoken, heard and read all manner of comments on this page. I have seen intelligent debates and panic attacks, shared Victory and Defeat with all of you as a fanbase, endured our own little "web-drama" and said goodbye to some people we feel attached to. We have collectively told each other to have faith in OUr team, OUr coaches, OUr players. We have argued for JH to move on or get fired, eye-rolled and hand-wrung over the QB Controversy/Carousel, and wondered if the team we love might have fallen victim to the "Texas-Entitlement Problem".

Maybe, we are the ones who are just a little bit too entitled. Anyone who tells you that The Win over Alabama Thursday night was not the best football they have seen in Oklahoma since Sam Bradford, might be on illicit chemicals. THEY WON THAT. OU Coaches, Staff and most importantly STUDENT ATHLETES pulled off what the whole College Football world had deemed impossible. They Thanked the Fans. I sure appreciated it, but I am not sure we deserved it. But then again, I am not certain we don't.

If I had to compare this season's OU fanbase to a real person, based on what I have witnessed and been involved in on Internet Blogs and Sports Pages, I might prescribe anti-anxiety pills and anti-depressants to that person. Man, we sure can be bi-polar.

Here's the gist, I love what goes on here. ALL of it (omitting one specific thing). I love the conversations that happen here, the thought processes and the debate. All I am really saying is, we should be thankful that we have adopted one of the classiest, hard-working and traditionally great teams in the country. And win or lose, we should hold faith that OUr Team is going to do everything it can to overcome. Because that is what THEY DO.

Thanks to Matt, Rich and Jordan for keeping me here after my first visit. And thanks to all the rest of you for keeping it entertaining. Here's to a Great 2014 of Sooner Football.
